DESCRIPTION:"Breaking Stereotypes\, Saving Lives: A Jewish Female Rescuer in the Dutch Holocaust" is a Holocaust remembrance lecture by WSU Professor of History Ray Sun. The presentation is Thursday\, April 20\, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Walla Walla Community College Performing Arts Auditorium. Professor Sun will tell the story of rescuer Carla Peperzak\, a 93 year old Spokane resident. She protected Jews from the Nazis in World War II as an operative in the Dutch Resistance. Professor Sun will discuss Carla's life on the basis of extensive interviews with her as part of a research project he is doing about her as an example of resistance and rescue in the Holocaust. This lecture is free and is open to the entire Walla Walla community. It is sponsored by Walla Walla Community College Arts & Sciences and Associated Student Body in anticipation of Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah) on April 23.
