SUMMARY:Greg Tate Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Featured Artists Greg & Twila Tate Greg has worked in clay for 40 years and recently retired from teaching ceramics\, drawing\, painting and design at Skagit Valley College for 34 years. His work is based on a love of landscape\, texture\, pattern\, and the absolute loveliness of clay. "By creating with clay I am being a child again and playing." Their Story of Territory Greg and Twila are two individuals who have a commonality of being visual artists who work with landscapes of areas they either live in or desire to live in. They are artists who like to record/document their region and take that image back to their studio\, where they develop their interpretation of the surrounding landscapes in very different ways. They enjoy creating in their studio rather than working on location. They use a variety of mediums and processes such as: ceramic\, painting\, photography\, printmaking and sculpture along with styles of abstract and representation to capture the rich colors\, textures and forms of space or landscape perspective. They document the diverse landscapes throughout the region and use them to express our concerns\, visions and interpretations of their environment. Art Education\, B.S.\, Western Oregon University\, Oregon M.F.A\, Washington State University The exhibit will run for 6 weeks. The art uses a variety of mediums including ceramics\, paint\, photographs to capture the beauty of the local region.
