DESCRIPTION:In March\, Rebecca Hom speaks at Museum After Hours with a story she calls "No Small Lives." Hom is a professional storyteller. She stumbled across a real-life tale in John Day\, Ore.\, while traveling on a tour highlighting the history of Chinese pioneers in the American West. A chance conversation led her to the legacy of Ing Hay and Lung On as she researched the Kam Wah Chung mercantile site. Ing was an herbalist and pulseologist and Lung was the businessman\, and between the two of them they owned and operated the mercantile in Grant County. Hom speaks to their experience in the early-to-mid 1900s and how the lives of the two men rippled forward in time and influenced a white supremacist social conflict. Museum After Hours is admission free. Hom will be weaving her tale at 5 p.m. on March 28 in the Grand Hall at the Museum.
