DESCRIPTION:This Olympics year\, celebrate the Fosbury Flop\, a high jump technique involving jumping backwards over the bar. Developed in 1968 by Olympic Gold Medal winner Dick Fosbury\, the technique is the focus of two bronze statues by Richland artists and friends Larry Kessie and Clay Lewis. Initially\, they created the sculptures as teaching aids for Lewis\, who as one of the first Fosbury Floppers of Washington State gives seminars on the Flop\, but after completing the artworks\, they decided to make a limited edition run of 25 for each piece. Number one of each is at Wenaha through June 7.
