SUMMARY:Summer Concert Series: The Wasteland Kings
DESCRIPTION:The Wasteland Kings have put down quite a few miles across The Great Northwest since 2008.\n\nPlaying their own brand of Americana Music at large venues like The Mount Baker Rhythm & Blues Festival outside of Bellingham\, WA and The Sunbanks Festival in Electric City\, WA way up yonder by the Canadian Border\; over to the HWY 30 Music Fest in Filer\, ID.\n\nThere are the small venues: The Wasteland Kings are blessed with the support and enthusiasm of many small businesses and events across the northwest that feature great live music. From Oregon county fairs\, like The Wasteland Kings' hometown Union County Fair in La Grande or 4th of July shindigs in beautiful Halfway. There are banquets for veterans or town street dances in Athena (we forgot our bagpipes and that's just as well\, the Athenians would outplay us in a heartbeat)\, or Oregon and Washington city celebrations in Heppner\, Walla Walla\, Pasco\, Pendleton\, Irrigon\, John Day\, Baker City\, and Boardman. You'll find The Wasteland Kings in corner beer bars like 40 Taps in Pendleton\, and Marcy's in Walla Walla.\n\nThe Wasteland Kings are a 6-piece guitar band backing singer Kris Mallory. He finds new life in folk\, country\, rock 'n' roll\, and blues songs by the likes of Steve Earle\, Townes Van Zandt\, Muddy Waters\, Delbert McClinton\, Bob Dylan\, plus a few of his own original jewels.\n\nComplimenting Kris's growling vocals & guitar is the amazing Holly Sorensen on backing vocals\, Mike Mallory on vocals and guitar\, Jerry Smith on guitar\, Mark Emerson drumming\, and Al "Too Loud" MacLeod on bass.\n\nKris likes to play the gentler side of Americana music as well\, which leads in the direction of folk music. The Wasteland Kings Acoustic Trio are often heard playing Mississippi John Hurt or Woody Guthrie renditions at weekly Farmers Markets or "Thursday-Bring-A-Chair-In-The-Park" gigs in Hermiston\, or La Grande\, Walla Walla\, or Baker City.
