When wildlife artist Jan Fontecchio was a dolphin trainer, she had to watch out for Star, one of her charges who had a tendency to slash with her teeth. Quite fortunately, Fontecchio didn’t have that problem when she worked with big cats at wildlife sanctuaries in California. Now, the Moscow, ID, artist paints the animals she loves in what she calls their “unpredictable and beautiful moments.” Visit Wenaha Gallery to see a wall of Western and wildlife works by Fontecchio, who renders “bold paintings with the special magic” her subject naturally possess.
