Rain gardens are beautiful, natural landscape features that allow rainwater runoff to be absorbed into the ground and thereby limit erosion in your landscape. Rain gardens also serve to filter storm water and improve water quality in nearby bodies of water. Typically planted with native plants, rain gardens are low maintenance and can enhance your property by attracting native birds and butterflies. Learn more about how rain gardens can benefit your home or business and the basics on site selection, and constructing your own rain garden by attending our workshop! We will also include a primer on plants native to our area. Planting with native plants generally will save time and money spent on watering, fertilizing and caring for non-native species. Join Heather Noel, riparian restoration specialist and outreach assistant from Tri-State Steelheaders, Judith Johnson from Kooskooskie Commons and SLC, as we explore these healthier and more natural alternatives to home landscaping.
