Back by popular demand is a trip to Growiser: the Grande Ronde Overlook Wildflower Institute Serving Ecological Restoration. GROWISER is a well-kept secret in Northeast Oregon. This 260-acre private conservation area is split into two pieces: one north of Summerville and the other east of Cove. The area hosts numerous native wildflowers, including many of the orchid species native to Oregon. The trip will be hosted by Dr. Andy Huber and Mike Denny. Dr. Huber is a former professor of Biology at Eastern Oregon University, and is the founder and leader of GROWISER. Mike is a well-known local naturalist and former president of the Blue Mountain Audubon Society. His expertise and enthusiasm for the area is renowned, and he’ll be an excellent guide on this trip of one of the region’s gems.
