Many trees live a long time. But when that time is done, woodworker Leonard McCreary has a means of keeping them going: he makes clocks out of them. For most of his 88 years, McCreary has worked around wood – as a logger and road builder – and creating clocks was a natural outlet for him. His uniquely shaped creations mirror the form and shape of the mature tree. Through January, Wenaha Gallery is celebrating the advent of the New Year with a display of McCreary’s cedar, walnut, and maple clocks.
