Quail Run's Annual Stuffed Potato Bar featuring Cimarron Sue & Nevada Slim
August 13, 2014 (Walla Walla, WA) With a bit of Cowboy flavor added to the mix, Quail Run presents its annual Stuffed Potato Bar on Sunday, September 7th at 12:30 PM. One of its most popular events, the 2014 Stuffed Potato Bar will feature entertainment by Country & Western Artists Cimarron Sue & Nevada Slim as well as new features such as ?The Grand Peel?, a potato-peeling contest that is sure to amuse. And yes, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head will be on hand to oversee the entire affair. Known in some circles as the ?Stuffed Potato of Retirement Living,? Quail Run invites everyone to join them for great food and fun at an event dubbed, ?the most spudtacular culinary event in the history of tubers!? Attendees will partake of a sumptuous potato bar featuring all their favorite toppings including meat or vegetarian chili, Walla Walla Sweets, broccoli-cheese sauce, bacon and much more. Plus, there will be a fresh green salad, homemade corn bread and a delicious surprise desert. Performing together since 1999, Cimarron Sue & Nevada Slim delight audiences with songs and stories of the American West. Slim?s rich baritone voice and stylish guitar work have won him fans from the casino showrooms of Nevada to concert venues in West Germany, Ireland, and New York City. When Sue joins in with bass and energetic vocals, the result is one heck of an entertaining and informative stage show! The husband and wife duo perform at festivals, cowboy gatherings, fairs and other venues. Their music covers traditional cowboy songs from the days of the great trail drives, the golden era of movie cowboys and cowgirls, and contemporary compositions (both their own songs and those by other notable cowboy and western songwriters). They have 5 CDs currently in release (of special note, their much-lauded 2010 release, Westerners). Their songs are featured in radio broadcasts across the United States, as well as in Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The couple are both ?westerners? of long standing. Bruce "Nevada Slim" Matley is a third generation Nevadan and fourth generation rancher, born to a pioneer cattle ranching family, and Susan ?Cimarron Sue? Matley descended from ranchers, miners, railroaders, school marms (and, of course, cowboys) who first settled in Washington Territory in 1864. The Matleys have logged over 1800 performances together, and have been honored as finalists for awards presented by the Western Music Association and Western Writers of America. They served for three years on the Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau, and have taken their presentation ?Lasso Our Heritage: Cowboys and Cowgirls (in Story & Song)? to libraries, schools and community centers across Washington State. They were named 2009 Service Members of the Year for the Washington Fairs Association. Guests on August 7th will be invited to tour model apartments and all the public spaces, and to talk with staff about all the possibilities for life at Quail Run. Quail Run is locally owned and operated and has been exceeding the expectations of Valley seniors and their loved ones since 1972.
