NATIONAL CIVICS BEE

WALLA WALLA VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL FINALISTS TO COMPETE IN LOCAL
NATIONAL CIVICS BEE COMPETITION

WALLA WALLA, WA, March 18, 2025Middle schoolers from around the Valley will be competing in the local live National Civic Bee event on Saturday, April 12th from 9:30 am-12 pm at Walla Walla Community College.
After a panel of judges, formed by business and community leaders, reviewed the essay submissions, the top students were selected to move on to the final round of the local competition: a live quiz event to test their civics knowledge. The finalists and top winners will receive various prizes, including $500 cash for the first-place student, $250 for the second place, and $150 for the third place.
Organized in partnership with The Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the competition inspires middle school-age youth in the Walla Walla Valley region to become better informed about local, federal, and state governments, a knowledge set that can give employees a leg up in the job market.

Arlene Alen, President & CEO of the Walla Walla Valley Chamber shares, “This year's National Civics Bee local competition isn't just for students competing – it's a fun and educational event for the whole community. We encourage parents, teachers, and anyone interested in fostering a deeper understanding of American civics to attend and cheer on our bright young minds and even test their own knowledge by participating in the quiz on their phones. This is also a fantastic opportunity for rising middle schoolers (entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade) to see the competition firsthand and get inspired to participate next year!”
The Walla Walla Valley Chamber is also looking to partner with local businesses through additional sponsorships. Any organizations interested in supporting the local Walla Walla Valley National Civics Bee competition can reach out by emailing ceo@wwvchamber.com or calling 509.525.0850.
