A Doll's House, Part 2 (drama)
Gesa Power House Theatre presents a local production of the play "A Doll’s House, Part 2" on Thursday, May 9 and Saturday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 12 at 2:00 p.m.
In the final scene of Ibsen’s 1879 groundbreaking masterwork, "A Doll’s House," Nora Helmer makes the shocking decision to leave her husband and children, and begin a life on her own. This climactic event—when Nora slams the door on everything in her life—instantly propelled world drama into the modern age. A Doll’s House, Part 2 was written by Lucas Hnath as a possible continuation of the Ibsen’s story. Fifteen years have passed, and now there is a knock on that same door – Nora has returned. But why? And how will her husband and family react to her reappearance?
"A Doll’s House, Part 2" received eight 2017 Tony Award nominations when it debuted on Broadway. The play poses thoughtful questions about marriage, gender roles, and equality and works both as a sequel and as a stand-alone play. A familiarity with Ibsen’s "A Doll’s House" is not necessary to enjoy this play.
This production is directed by Nancy Simon, Professor Emerita at Whitman College where she taught theater classes and directed at Harper Joy Theatre for nearly 50 years. The cast is comprised of Shauna Bogley (Nora), Kevin Loomer (Torvald), Terri Trick (Anne Marie), and Kathryn Bogley (Emmy).
Reserved seating tickets ($23-$15) will go on sale to the public on Monday, March 18, online at www.phtww.com or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
