Free Drive Through Adult Flu Shot Clinic
Providence will offer its annual free drive-through adult flu shot clinic Oct. 22 at the Providence Southgate Medical Park from 9 a.m. to noon, or until the vaccine is gone. People can be vaccinated against the flu without leaving their cars, and no appointments are necessary. People also can walk up to get a flu shot if they wish. The clinic is sponsored by Providence St. Mary Medical Center and Providence Medical Group in cooperation with the Walla Walla County Department of Community Health. The free flu immunizations are available to adults age 18 and over. This will be the 11th year that Providence and Community Health have teamed up to offer a one-day free drive-through flu clinic for adults. Please note that the clinic will not have children’s flu vaccine, FluMist or high dose vaccine. People needing children’s vaccine or high dose for people 65 and over are advised to contact their primary care provider or pharmacy for availability. The Walla Walla County Department of Community Health also offers children’s vaccine clinics. Flu season usually begins in October and can last through May. This winter is predicted to be a particularly bad flu season. The CDC recommends annual immunizations to protect people from the flu. Being immunized against the flu protects you and your loved ones and helps prevent hospitalization.
