Live Cinema: Romeo and Juliet
Gesa Power House Theatre presents a Live Cinema screening of The Royal Ballet’s current production of "Romeo and Juliet," on Wednesday, March 9 at 6:00 p.m.
"Romeo and Juliet" has become a great modern ballet classic of the ballet repertory since its creation by Royal Ballet Director Kenneth MacMillan and its premiere in 1965. The doomed lovers attempt to find their way through the color and action of Renaissance Verona, where a busy market all too quickly bursts into sword fighting and a family feud leads to tragedy for both the Montagues and the Capulets.
Filmed during a live event, the Live Cinema Series broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house, with incredibly detailed close-ups of the performers. The Live Cinema Series is sponsored in part by Shakespeare Walla Walla.
This screening has an approximate runtime of 3 hours, 25 minutes, including an on-screen introduction and two intermissions. Beer, wine, popcorn, and snacks will be available for purchase, and may be taken into the theater.
Reserved seating tickets ($15 adults, $10 students) are available online at www.phtww.org or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
Additional health and safety measures, including required mask use, will be enforced.
