Live Cinema: "The King and I" (musical)
The Live Cinema series continues with the screening of "The King and I: From the London Palladium," with one screening on Thursday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m.
The multi-award winning and critically acclaimed Lincoln Center Theater’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s "The King And I" comes to cinemas – recorded live from London’s iconic Palladium.
Making their West End debuts are the original Broadway stars: Kelli O’Hara (Anna) reprising her Tony Award-winning performance, and Tony and Academy Award nominee Ken Watanabe (The King). Also returning to her Tony Award-winning role Ruthie Ann Miles (Lady Thiang).
Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.
With a score filled with well-known songs like “Whistle a Happy Tune,” “Getting to Know You,” and “Shall We Dance,” and featuring a company of more than 50 performers, "The King and I" is a testament to the lavish golden age of gloriously romantic musical theatre.
Runtime: approximately 3 hours. Beer, wine, popcorn, and snacks will be available for purchase, and may be taken into the theater. No outside food or beverages allowed.
Reserved seating tickets - $15 Adults, $10 Students (in advance); $18 Adults, $12 Students (at the door) - will go on sale on Friday, August 31, online (www.phtww.com) or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
