In this Studio Art class, students will receive focused instruction in drawing and develop techniques with a variety of high-quality drawing materials from graphite and colored pencils, to chalk and oil pastels, ink and charcoal. Students will practice skills such as creating realistic 2D forms, sketching and shading in both color and grayscale, drawing from real life (still life objects and images), and drawing in specific artistic styles. Students will learn to develop values and textures in their art, and how to achieve balance and focal point in composition. Completion of new artworks will be rolling, usually every 2-3 weeks. All artwork will be ready to take home as a portfolio at the end of the session.
