Membership & Business Development Director

For over 125 years, we have championed economic growth, supported local businesses, and fostered a thriving regional economy. Representing nearly 500 businesses, we provide unparalleled networking opportunities, advocacy, and business resources. Our diverse programming includes events, forums, and roundtables that empower businesses and drive community success.
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to join our leadership team as the Director of Membership & Business Development. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the Chamber’s growth strategy, enhancing member engagement, and driving business development initiatives. Position Overview
As Director of Membership & Business Development, you will serve as the Chamber’s Director of Engagement, leading efforts to attract, retain, and engage members. You will be the face of the Chamber for current and prospective members, ensuring they receive exceptional value and opportunities for growth. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, you will work closely with senior leadership to develop innovative membership programs, cultivate strategic partnerships, and spearhead sponsorship initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Membership Growth & Retention
- Develop and execute strategies to drive new member recruitment and retain existing members.
- Actively engage with local businesses, organizations, and stakeholders to communicate the value of Chamber membership.
- Work with the Board, volunteers, and ambassadors to strengthen member relationships and increase participation in Chamber programs.
- Business Development & Engagement
- Lead sponsorship sales efforts to support Chamber programming and events.
- Identify and cultivate partnerships that enhance the Chamber’s offerings and create mutual business opportunities.
- Represent the Chamber at key networking events, trade shows, and industry gatherings to expand visibility and influence.
- Member Experience & Program Development
- Ensure members maximize their engagement, benefits, and return on investment.
- Oversee the design and execution of impactful networking events, educational seminars, and affinity programs.
- Collaborate with Chamber staff to refine and enhance membership pricing, benefits, and engagement strategies.
- Data-Driven Sales & Marketing
- Manage and optimize the Chamber’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to track outreach, engagement, and retention metrics.
- Leverage data insights to continuously refine sales, retention, and member satisfaction strategies.
- Contribute to marketing efforts, including website content, digital communications, and promotional materials.
- Addition duties as assigned
We are seeking a charismatic, strategic, and driven leader who thrives on building relationships and driving business success. The ideal candidate will have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience: At least five years of progressively responsible experience in sales, marketing, business development, or membership management.
- Sales & Negotiation Expertise: Proven ability to increase revenue, build pipelines, and successfully close deals.
- CRM & Analytics Proficiency: Experience with CRM systems and using data-driven insights to enhance performance.
- Event & Sponsorship Sales Experience: Knowledge of sponsorship development, partnership cultivation, and member engagement strategies.
- Tech Savviness: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with experience in Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to inspire volunteers, ambassadors, and community partners while working cross-functionally with Chamber leadership.
- Flexibility & Community Presence: Willingness to attend morning and evening events, regional business functions, and trade shows as a representative of the Chamber.
- Salary Range: $67,000 – $80,000 annually, based on experience.
- Bonuses: Performance-based incentives may be awarded at the discretion of the Board.
