Zinfandel vs Primitivo Comparative Tasting
Join us @ Forgeron Cellars' Downtown Walla Walla Winery & Tasting Room for a fun & casual come-&-go Comparative Tasting to learn about winemaker Marie-Eve?s 2 favorite Italian-style varietals. Learn which is YOUR favorite! Primitivo is a lesser-known varietal closely related to the Zinfandel grape, but the wines they produce have very distinct differences. The fruit character of Primitivo is less jammy and the structure is more similar to Old World wines, with rustic notes of earth and spice, as well as tamed fruit flavors. Washington Zinfandel is a classical version of red Zinfandel, bursting with juicy, fruity aromas and licorice spice, followed by cracked pepper and clove as well rich cherry jam characteristics on the palate with clean slate and mineral flavors from backed up by a variety of spices including white pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon. Being genetic twins ?separated at birth? these 2 varietals are so similar yet so different ? the fun is trying to tell them apart!
